Abstract：
The research in my laboratory has been centered on understanding how sensory information is progressively transformed and encoded by neural circuits along the ascending/descending central pathway for generating perception and behaviors. I will discuss four related topics, (1) local synaptic circuits for cortical laminar processing; (2) brain state-dependent modulation of cortical information processing; (3) the nature of cortical population coding; and (4) neural circuits for sensory cortical control of an innate defense behavior.
